Wayne Bennett

During a career spanning more than three decades, Wayne Bennett is a former Australian international and Queensland representative and has set the record for the most Grand Final wins as coach (seven) and most seasons at a single club (21).

Bennett’s first coaching job was with Ipswich in 1976 and from here he moved to Canberra where he was appointed co-coach of the Raiders with Don Furner, who together guided the Raiders to the Grand Final.

After a season spent with the Raiders, Bennett moved back home to Queensland where he began a 21-year run as head coach of the Brisbane Broncos, steering the club to six grand final wins from as many appearances, all while coaching Queensland and Australia.

In 2009, Bennett left the Broncos and joined the St George-Illawarra Dragons, instantly finding success with the team winning the minor premiership that year and again the following year, before going on and winning the 2010 grand final.

The Newcastle Knights welcomed one of Rugby League's most celebrated and accomplished coaches to the Club in 2012 when he accepted a four-year contract.
